The Saskatchewan Roughriders released seven players on Wednesday. They are running back Khalan Laborn, wide receiver Ty James, offensive lineman Noah Zerr, defensive lineman Justin Jefferson, defensive backs Leon Jones and Nicario Harper, and punter Joe Couch.

Khalan Laborn is five foot eleven and weighs 212 pounds. The 25-year-old from Virginia Beach, Virginia, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 12, 2025.

The Edmonton Elks signed Laborn on September 6, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. Laborn, along with defensive lineman Jake Ceresna were traded to the Toronto Argonauts on January 15, 2024, for wide receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick.

The Argonauts re-signed Laborn on February 15, 2024. He played two preseason games for the Argonauts with seven carries for 32 yards, and one catch for four yards. The Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Laborn on August 11, 2024. In 2024, he had 58 carries for 310 yards, one touchdown, 23 catches for 152 yards, and two tackles in six games.

Collegiately, Laborn played one season at Marshall University in 2022 with 302 carries for 1,513 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 16 catches for 116 yards in 13 games for the Thundering Herd.

Then, Laborn played three seasons at Florida State (2018-20) with 63 carries for 297 yards, four touchdowns, and 11 catches for 103 yards in 12 games for the Seminoles.

Noah Zerr is six foot seven and weighs 330 pounds. The 26-year-old from Langenburg, Saskatchewan, re-signed with the Roughriders on December 17, 2024.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Zerr on December 22, 2023. In 2024, Zerr played 11 games. Saskatchewan’s offense averaged 26.6 points per game, 355.7 net offense per game, 89.6 rushing yards per game, 278.8 passing yards per game, 45 touchdowns, and 35 sacks allowed finishing 9-8-1 in the regular season. They were eliminated in the Western Final against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Zerr attended the New York Giants rookie minicamp in 2022. The B.C. Lions drafted Zerr in the second round (12th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft. In 2022, Zerr played four games. The B.C. Lions released him on June 4, 2023. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Zerr on June 20, 2023. In 2023, he played three games and spent the rest of the year on the practice squad. The Ticats released him on November 5, 2023.

Collegiately, Zerr played 41 games in five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2016-19, 2021) playing left tackle for the Huskies. In 2021, he was named USports First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star after helping the Huskies’ offense average 33.6 points per game, 1,870 rushing yards (187 Avg. Per Game), 2,727 passing yards (272.7 Avg. Per Game), and 37 touchdowns as the Huskies won the Hardy Cup and Uteck Bowl. In addition, he was voted as the Huskies’ lineman of the year.

The Roughriders also announced they placed offensive lineman Julius Buelow, and linebackers Jordan Herdman-Reed and Justin Herdman-Reed on the suspended list.
