
The Montreal Alouettes signed wide receiver Phil Lutz Jr. on Wednesday.
Phil Lutz Jr. is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. A native of North Caldwell, New Jersey, Lutz Jr. transferred to the University of Delaware (2023-24) making 59 catches for 1,071 yards, 12 touchdowns in 24 games for the Fightin’ Blue Hens. In 2024, he made 45 catches for 863 yards, and 11 touchdowns in 11 games. He was named Third Team All-CAA.
Collegiately, Lutz Jr. played three seasons at Tufts University (2019, 2021-22) making 152 catches for 2,268 yards, 18 touchdowns, and two carries for four yards in 18 games for the Jumbos. He was named a two-time First Team All-NESCAC, Second Team All-American by AFCA, Region 1 Offensive Player of the Year by D3football.com, and the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
The Alouettes released wide receiver Daniel Arias, defensive linemen Praise Amaewhule, Ifenna Onyeka, and Treqwan Thomas, defensive backs Quenton Meeks and Matt Severance, and punter Sam Clark.
Ifenna Onyeka is six foot two and weighs 250 pounds. The 23-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on May 7, 2025.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Onyeka in the fifth round (45th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Onyeka made one tackle in two preseason games.
The Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024, and he returned to Carleton for his final collegiate season. Toronto re-signed Onyeka on December 5, 2024, and released him on May 2, 2025.
Collegiately, Onyeka played five seasons at Carleton University (2020-24) making 103 tackles (60 solos, 43 assists), 24.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup in 34 games for the Ravens.
In 2023, Onyeka made 46 tackles (21 solos, 25 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in eight games. In 2024, he made 26 tackles (19 solos, 7 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and one forced fumble in eight games. He won the John Ruddy Award in 2023 and was named Second Team U Sports All-Canadian in 2024.
Quenton Meeks is six foot one and weighs 2015 pounds. The 27-year-old from San Diego, California, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on March 19, 2025.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Meeks as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2018. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Tennessee Titans. Meeks made 8 tackles (7 solos, 1 assist), and one punt return for one yard in 14 regular season games, of which 12 were in Jacksonville and two in Los Angeles.
The Tampa Bay Bandits drafted Meeks in the second round (290th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. In 2022, he made 49 tackles (29 solos, 20 assists), and one interception in nine games. In 2023, the Tampa Bay Bandits rebranded as the Memphis Showboats. He made 21 tackles (12 solos, 9 assists), and one interception in seven games. In 2024, Meeks made 29 tackles (18 solos, 11 assists), one sack, and two interceptions in 10 games.
Meeks is the son of Ron Meeks, who was an NFL coach for 22 yards and won Super Bowl XLI in 2007 as a defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts over the Chicago Bears.
Collegiately, Meeks played three seasons at Stanford (2015-17) making 117 tackles (74 solos, 47 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 144 yards, two touchdowns, and 18 pass breakups in 38 games for the Cardinal. He was named Second Team All-PAC 12 in 2017.
