
The Calgary Stampeders released the following players on Wednesday. They are running back Deshaun Fenwick, wide receivers Daylen Baldwin and Mike Harley Jr., offensive linemen Deiyantei Powell-Woods and Justin Shaffer, defensive linemen Michael Mason, Josh Carr Jr., Kwadwo Boahen, and Savion Jackson, linebacker Alex Howard, and defensive backs Meiko Dotson and Sam Mathews.
Kwadwo Boahen is six foot one and weighs 285 pounds. The 24-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was drafted by the Stampeders in the third round (22nd pick) in the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2024, he made one tackle in three games.
Collegiately, Boahen played three seasons at York University (2018-19, 2021) making 74 tackles (38 solos, 36 assists), nine tackles for loss, and five sacks in 22 games for the Lions. In his final season at York, Boahen made 29 tackles (16 solos, 13 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in six games.
Then, he transferred to the University of Alberta (2022-23) making 33 tackles (18 solos, 15 assists), four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt in 12 games for the Golden Bears.
Meiko Dotson is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. The 28-year-old from Daytona Beach, Florida, re-signed with the Stampeders on October 29, 2024.
Dotson attended the Houston Texans rookie minicamp in 2022. Next, he signed with the New Jersey Generals (USFL) on January 20, 2023. Dotson made 15 tackles (11 solos, 4 assists), one forced fumble, and five pass breakups in nine games.
Then, Dotson signed with the Calgary Stampeders on March 11, 2024. He played in two preseason games in 2024 making one tackle. The Stampeders released him on June 1, 2024. Calgary re-signed Dotson on July 15, 2024. He played in one game against the Edmonton Elks in Week 14 making one tackle on special teams. The Stampeders released him on October 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Dotson played one season at Georgia Tech in 2016 with two tackles (2 solos) in two games for the Yellow Jackets. Next, he transferred to Gardner City Community College in 2017 with 28 tackles (22 solos, 6 assists), four interceptions for 65 yards, one touchdown, and 10 pass breakups in eight games for the Broncbusters.
Then, Dotson transferred to Florida Atlantic in 2019 with 30 tackles (23 solos, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, nine interceptions for 108 yards, 12 pass breakups, and five kick returns for 97 yards in 13 games for the Owls.
He was named First Team All-C-USA. In the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl, Dotson made one tackle (1 solo), one interception for 24 yards, and one pass breakup helping the Owls beat SMU 52-28.
Dotson wrapped up his collegiate career at Florida State (2020-21) with 21 tackles (14 solos, 7 assists), and one forced fumble in 10 games for the Seminoles.
