
The B.C. Lions released the following players on Wednesday. They are running back Qadree Ollison, wide receivers Jared Bernhardt, Devin Carter, and Ed Lee, offensive lineman X’Zauvea Gadlin, defensive linemen Francis Bemiy Jr. and Adam Rodriguez, and defensive backs Wyryor Noil and Kole Jones.
Francis Bemiy Jr. is six foot four and weighs 270 pounds. The 26-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, did not play in the 2024 season due to a knee injury. The B.C. Lions drafted Bemiy Jr. in the first round (9th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, he made 5 tackles in 9 games.
Collegiately, Bemiy Jr. played five seasons at Southern Utah (2018-22) making 163 tackles (87 solos, 76 assists), 38.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 49 games for the Thunderbirds.
Adam Rodriguez is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. The 27-year-old from Provo, Utah, signed with the B.C. Lions on October 20, 2024.
Rodriguez played with the TSL’s Blues in 2021. Next, the Philadelphia Stars drafted him in the second round of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. In 2022, Rodriguez had 40 tackles (28 solos, 12 assists), eight tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one safety in ten games.
In 2023, Rodriguez made 27 tackles (18 solos, 9 assists), six tackles for loss, six sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup in ten games.
He was named to the USFL All-Star Team. In two seasons with Philadelphia, Rodriguez has 67 tackles (46 solos, 21 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three pass breakups, and one safety in 20 games.
The Houston Roughnecks drafted Rodriguez in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Rodriguez made 23 tackles (11 solos, 12 assists), five tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in nine games. The Roughnecks released Rodriguez on August 15, 2024.
Collegiately, Rodriguez played four seasons (2016-19) at Weber State making 199 tackles (98 solos, 101 assists), 22 sacks, 41 tackles for loss, ten pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 52 games for the Wildcats. He is a two-time All-American.
