
The Montreal Alouettes released running back Daijun Edwards and wide receiver Cam Johnson on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Daijun Edwards is five foot ten and weighs 201 pounds. The 24-year-old from Moultrie, Georgia, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on February 7, 2025.
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Edwards as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he had seven carries for 37 yards, one touchdown, one catch for nine yards, and one kick return for 27 yards in three preseason games. The Steelers released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Edwards played four seasons at Georgia (2020-23) with 390 carries for 2,083 yards, 24 touchdowns, 37 catches for 343 yards, two kick returns for 37 yards, one tackle (1 assist), and one fumble recovery in 51 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2023, he had 164 carries for 881 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 20 catches for 197 yards in 12 games. He is a member of the Georgia Bulldogs CFP National Championship teams in 2021 and 2022.
Camron Johnson is six foot and weighs 202 pounds. The 26-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on April 1, 2025.
The Carolina Panthers signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Johnson made six catches for 32 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 26, 2024. The Carolina Panthers signed Johnson to the practice squad on November 6, 2024. They released him on November 12, 2024.
Collegiately, Johnson played four seasons at Vanderbilt (2018-21) making 124 catches for 1,233 yards, 10 touchdowns, three carries for no yards, seven kick returns for 114 yards, 14 punt returns for 104 yards, and three tackles (3 solos) in 37 games for the Commodores.
Next, Johnson transferred to Arizona State in 2022 making 10 catches for 84 yards, and one punt return for nine yards in 12 games for the Sun Devils.
Then, he transferred to Northwestern University in 2023 making 54 catches for 715 yards, six touchdowns, one carry for eight yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games for the Wildcats. He finished sixth in the Big Ten in receptions and eighth in receiving yards.
