
The Edmonton Elks re-signed offensive lineman Mark Korte to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Tuesday.
Mark Korte is six foot two and weighs 293 pounds. The 28-year-old from Spruce Grove, Alberta, started 18 games for the Elks in 2024. Edmonton’s offense averaged 28 points per game, 390.3 net offense per game, 131.4 rushing yards per game, 271.7 passing yards per game, and 29 sacks allowed finishing 7-11 in the 2024 season. Korte was named a CFL West All-Star in 2024.
The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Korte in the first round (4th pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. He played 49 games for the Redblacks playing center and left tackle. The Edmonton Elks signed Korte on February 8, 2022. Korte has played 53 games for the Elks in three seasons. He was the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2022.
Collegiately, Korte played four seasons at the University of Alberta (2014-17) playing 33 games for the Golden Bears. In 2017, he was Canada West’s top lineman and division all-star. Alberta averaged 33 points per game, 205.6 rushing yards per game, 311.33 passing yards per game, 504.7 total yards per game, 33 touchdowns, and allowed 13 sacks finishing 3-6 for the season.
