Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Draft Pick DL Ali Saad, release OL Jake Levengood

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive lineman Ali Saad and released offensive lineman Jake Levengood on Monday.

Ali Saad is six foot three and weighs 280 pounds. The 23-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the first round (4th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, he spent one season at Minnesota in 2020 as a redshirt freshman and did not play for the Golden Gophers. Then, he transferred to Bowling Green State (2021-24) making 78 tackles (40 solos, 38 assists), 14 tackles for loss, six sacks, four forced fumbles, and one blocked kick in 44 games for the Falcons. He was named Academic All-MAC in 2024.

Jake Levengood is six foot four and weighs 294 pounds. The 25-year-old from Vacaville, California, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 2, 2025.

Collegiately, Levengood played six seasons at Oregon State (2018-24) playing 49 games for the Beavers. In 2024, Oregon State averaged 24.25 points per game, 189.2 rushing yards per game, 201.42 passing yards per game, 390.6 total yards per game, 37 touchdowns, and allowed 25 sacks finishing 5-7 for the season.

Levengood was named First Team All-Pac 12 in 2023, Second Team All-Pac 12 by AP and Phil Steele, and All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention. He was a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award twice recognizing the nation’s top offensive line.
