
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed offensive lineman Erik Andersen and released defensive lineman Jordan Smith on Sunday. In addition, Saskatchewan placed wide receiver Ja’Marcus Bradley on the suspended list.
Erik Andersen is six foot six and weighs 314 pounds. The 24-year-old from London, Ontario, was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round (13th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. Andersen has accepted a rookie minicamp invite from the New York Giants.
Collegiately, Andersen played five seasons at Western University (2020-24) playing left tackle in 40 games for the Mustangs. In 2024, Western averaged 49.5 points per game, 227.8 rushing yards per game, 264.8 passing yards per game, 492.5 total yards per game, and 43 touchdowns finishing 7-1 for the season.
He was named a two-time First Team U-Sports All-Canadian and was the OUA’s nominee for the J. P. Metras Trophy, which is given annually to the top lineman in U-Sports football.
Jordan Smith is six foot six and weighs 255 pounds. The 27-year-old from Lithonia, Georgia, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 5, 2025.
The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Smith in the fourth round (121st pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2021, he made nine tackles (4 solos, 5 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. He played in two regular season games making one tackle (1 solo).
In 2022, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during OTAs. In 2023, he made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 29, 2023. The Kansas City Chiefs signed Smith on January 10, 2024, and released him on May 3, 2024.
Collegiately, Smith started at Florida (2016-17) but did not play a game for the Gators. Next, he transferred to Butler Community College in 2018 making 77 tackles (40 solos, 37 assists), 22.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups in 12 games for the Grizzlies. He was named First Team All-Jayhawk Conference.
Then, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2019-20) making 96 tackles (58 solos, 38 assists), 27 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and four forced fumbles in 23 games for the Blazers.
He was named First Team All-Conference USA in 2020 and Second Team All-Conference USA in 2019. He was selected to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
