Lehigh Valley closes out the series with a shutout win over Worcester

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-12) concluded the six-game homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Worcester Red Sox (18-20) from Coca-Cola Park. Nabil Crismatt (3-1, 2.31 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Josh Winckowski (0-1, 2.65 ERA) of Worcester.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lehigh Valley catcher Garrett Stubbs hit José De León’s changeup for a three-run home run at 389 feet to right field for a 3-0 lead. It was Stubbs’s third home run of the season. Stubbs went 1 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lehigh Valley second baseman Christian Arroyo worked a four-pitch walk scoring Justin Crawford for a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Lehigh Valley shortstop Rodolfo Castro hit a two-run RBI triple to center field scoring Buddy Kennedy and Oscar Mercado for a 6-0 lead. Castro finished 2 for 4 with a single, a triple, and two RBIs.

That was all the runs Lehigh Valley needed and they shut out the Worcester Red Sox by the final score of 6-0. Lehigh Valley took four of six games from Worcester and finished the series on a four-game winning streak.

Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt pitched a solid game. He went seven innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and three strikeouts throwing 89 pitches, of which 50 were strikes for his fourth win of the season. The loss went to Worcester relief pitcher José De León.
