
The Edmonton Elks released 14 players on Friday ahead of the start of training camp. They are running back Jonathan Rosery, wide receivers Jacob Copeland, Devron Harper, and Marshel Martin IV, offensive lineman Will Marotta, defensive linemen Micah Roane, Jordan Strachan, and David Chinenye-Ugwoebu, defensive backs Braxton Clark, Jarmaine Doubs, Keylon Kennedy, Willie Roberts, and Harold Nash III, and kicker Toshiki Sato.
Jonathan Rosery is five foot nine and weighs 193 pounds. The 24-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta, signed with the Edmonton Elks on May 5, 2025.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers drafted Rosery in the seventh round (62nd pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. Rosery attended training camp and was placed on the suspended list as he returned to Alberta for his final collegiate season. The Blue Bombers re-signed him on November 28, 2023.
In 2024, Rosery had eight carries for 18 yards and three catches for 30 yards in two preseason games. The Blue Bombers released him on June 2, 2024.
Collegiately, Rosery played four seasons at the University of Alberta (2019, 2021-23) with 139 carries for 748 yards, one touchdown, 114 catches for 1,710 yards, 10 touchdowns, and ten kick returns for 211 yards in 29 games. He was named a Canada West All-Star in 2022 with 36 carries for 160 yards, 29 catches for 536 yards, and two touchdowns in six games for the Golden Bears.
Jacob Copeland is five foot eleven and weighs 201 pounds. The 25-year-old from Pensacola, Florida, signed with the D.C. Defenders on December 4, 2024. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025. The Edmonton Elks signed Copeland on April 8, 2025.
The Tennessee Titans signed Copeland as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. The Titans released him on August 2, 2023. Next, the Minnesota Vikings signed Copeland on August 7, 2023. In 2023, he made one catch for 18 yards and one kick return for 17 yards in three preseason games.

The Kansas City Chiefs signed Copeland on January 10, 2024. The Chiefs released him on May 6, 2024, and he re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 21, 2024. In 2024, Copeland appeared in two preseason games and was targeted one time. The Steelers released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Copeland played four seasons at Florida (2018-21) making 86 catches for 1,366 yards, 9 touchdowns, 8 carries for 65 yards, two kick returns for 43 yards, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 40 games for the Gators. Then, he transferred to Maryland in 2022 making 26 catches for 376 yards, two touchdowns, one carry for -1 yard, 8 kick returns for 128 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 12 games for the Terrapins.
Devron Harper is five foot nine and weighs 170 pounds. The 24-year-old from Conyers, Georgia, signed with the Edmonton Elks on December 18, 2024.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Harper as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Vikings released him on June 17, 2024. The B.C. Lions signed Harper on September 23, 2024, and spent several weeks on the practice squad. The Lions released him on October 20, 2024.
Collegiately, Harper played two seasons at Gardner-Webb University (2019-20) making 67 catches for 824 yards, four touchdowns, seven carries for 14 yards, 40 kick returns for 999 yards, one touchdown, 20 punt returns for 219 yards, two touchdowns, one tackle (1 solo), and one forced fumble in 16 games for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Then, Harper transferred to Mercer (2021-23) making 159 catches for 1,929 yards, 13 touchdowns, 56 carries for 458 yards, six touchdowns, 55 kick returns for 1,346 yards, one touchdown, 44 punt returns for 625 yards, three touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solos) in 34 games for the Bears.
In 2023, Harper made 57 catches for 549 yards, two touchdowns, 26 carries for 185 yards, one touchdown, 22 kick returns for 503 yards, 27 punt returns for 271 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games.
In 2022, Harper was named First Team All-SoCon, a Walter Payton Award Finalist, and he broke six school records. He finished the 2022 season making 78 catches for 987 yards, 10 touchdowns, 25 carries for 199 yards, four touchdowns, 18 kick returns for 523 yards, one touchdown, 10 punt returns for 169 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solos) in 11 games.
Marshel Martin IV is six foot two and weighs 230 pounds. A native of Vallejo, California, Martin IV signed with the Edmonton Elks on April 11, 2025.
Martin IV went undrafted and attended NFL rookie minicamps with the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers in 2024.
Collegiately, Martin IV played five seasons at Sacramento State (2018-23) making 192 catches for 2,373 yards, 27 touchdowns, 18 carries for 102 yards, two rushing touchdowns, three kick returns for 83 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 50 games for the Hornets.
In 2023, he made 35 catches for 295 yards, two touchdowns, 12 carries for 85 yards, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 12 games. Martin IV was named a three-time First Team All-Big Sky Conference (2021-23), Second Team All-Big Sky Conference (2019), and a six-time All-American by STATS, 2 by AFCA, 2 by Phil Steele, and 2 by HERO Sports.
Will Marotta is six foot five and weighs 325 pounds. A native of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, signed with the Edmonton Elks on April 30, 2025.
Collegiately, Marotta played five seasons at the University of Albany (2021-24) playing 47 games, of which 38 were starts for the Great Danes. He was named Third Team All-CAA in 2023. In 2023, Albany averaged 28.40 points per game, 121.9 rushing yards per game, 242.27 passing yards per game, 364.2 total yards per game, 56 touchdowns, and allowed 36 sacks finishing 11-4 for the season appearing in the FCS Playoffs.
In 2024, Marotta played 12 games for the Great Danes. In 2024, Albany averaged 19.58 points per game, 108.7 rushing yards per game, 226 passing yards per game, 334.7 total yards per game, 29 touchdowns, and allowed 36 sacks finishing 4-8 for the season. He was named an All-CAA Honorable Mention.
Micah Roane is six foot four and weighs 255 pounds. The 25-year-old from Chaska, Minnesota, signed with the Edmonton Elks on December 14, 2024.
The Montreal Alouettes drafted Roane in the fourth round (38th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Roane dressed for six games but did not see any action. The Alouettes released him on November 10, 2024.

Jordan Strachan is six foot five and weighs 245 pounds. The 26-year-old from Kingsland, Georgia, re-signed with the Edmonton Elks on October 28, 2024.
Strachan went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans rookie minicamps. The Edmonton Elks signed Strachan on September 3, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad. The Elks released him on October 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Strachan played four seasons at Georgia State (2017-20) making 78 tackles (42 solos, 36 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one pass breakup, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 23 games for the Panthers. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2020 and the Sun Belt Conference Honor Roll in 2019.
Then, Strachan transferred to South Carolina (2021-23) making 52 tackles (35 solos, 17 assists), 16 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, one interception for 44 yards, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 27 games for the Gamecocks. In 2023, Strachan made 20 tackles (15 solos, 5 assists), 7 tackles for loss, four sacks, one pass breakup, and two forced fumbles in 12 games.
David Chinenye-Ugwoebu is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 24-year-old from Katy, Texas, signed with the Edmonton Elks on March 5, 2025.
The Buffalo Bills signed Chinenye-Ugwoebu as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he suffered a hip injury during training camp and was released on August 6, 2024.
Collegiately, Chinenye-Ugwoebu played four seasons at Oklahoma (2019-22) making 212 tackles (107 solos, 105 assists), 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, one blocked kick, and one punt return for 22 yards in 51 games for the Sooners. He was named an All-Big XII Honorable Mention in 2022.
Then, he transferred to the University of Houston in 2023 making 41 tackles (28 solos, 13 assists), six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Cougars. He was a participant in the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2024.
Braxton Clark is six foot four and weighs 204 pounds. The 25-year-old from Orlando, Florida, attended the New York Jets rookie minicamp in 2024. The Edmonton Elks signed Clark on April 7, 2025.
Collegiately, Clark played four seasons at Nebraska (2018-22) making 22 tackles (18 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for nine yards, and four pass breakups in 34 games for the Cornhuskers.
Then, he transferred to the University of South Florida in 2023 making 26 tackles (23 solos, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 35 yards, and six pass breakups in 10 games for the Bulls.
Jarmaine Doubs is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. A native of Los Angeles, California, signed with the Edmonton Elks on May 7, 2025.
Doubs signed with the San Diego Strike Force (IFL) on November 13, 2019. In 2020, he did not play in the only game of the season for San Diego against the Quad City Steamwheelers before the league shutdown due to COVID-19.
Doubs has played the last two seasons with the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. In 2023, he made eight tackles (7 solos, 1 assist), one interception, and two pass breakups in two games. In 2024, he made 87 tackles (63 solos, 24 assists), three tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 132 yards, 19 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 19 games.
In the postseason, Doubs made 20 tackles (17 solos, 3 assists), three interceptions for 43 yards, and three pass breakups in three games helping the Rattlers win the IFL National Championship over the Massachusetts Pirates.
Collegiately, Doubs played two seasons at West Los Angeles College (2014-15) making 65 tackles (46 solos, 19 assists), three tackles for loss, six interceptions for 42 yards, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 17 games for the Wildcats.
Then, he transferred to Southern Utah University (2016-17) making 81 tackles (64 solos, 17 assists), five tackles for loss, five interceptions, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 19 games for the Thunderbirds. In 2017, he made 47 tackles (35 solos, 12 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and five pass breakups in 12 games.
Keylon Kennedy is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Daytona Beach, Florida, signed with the Edmonton Elks on March 24, 2025.
The Vegas Vipers (XFL) drafted Kennedy in the first round (8th pick) in Phase 2 of the 2022 XFL Draft. In 2023, Kennedy made 40 tackles (34 solos, 6 assists), three tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions for 18 yards, and one forced fumble.
Kennedy was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Kennedy made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) in six games before he was placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the season. The Battlehawks re-signed Kennedy on August 24, 2024, and released him on March 20, 2025.
Collegiately, Kennedy played one season at Fort Hayes State University in 2018 making 49 tackles (37 solos, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, and eight pass breakups in 12 games for the Tigers. He was named an All-MIAA Honorable Mention in 2018.
Then, Kennedy transferred to Garden City Community College (2020-21) making 35 tackles (23 solos, 12 assists), two tackles for loss, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three blocked kicks in 16 games for the Broncbusters.
Willie Roberts is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, signed with the Edmonton Elks on February 7, 2025.
The Seattle Seahawks signed Roberts as an undrafted free agent on August 9, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Seahawks released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Roberts played three seasons at Stephen F. Austin (2019-21) making 85 tackles (61 solos, 24 assists), three tackles for loss, half a sack, six interceptions for 58 yards, one touchdown, 27 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two forced fumbles in 34 games for the Lumberjacks.
Then, Roberts transferred to Louisiana Tech (2022-23) making 67 tackles (51 solos, 16 assists), half tackle for loss, five interceptions for 18 yards, one touchdown, 24 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2023, he made 38 tackles (28 solos, 10 assists), half a tackle for loss, one interception, 13 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He was a 2023 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist.
Harold Nash III is five foot eleven and weighs 201 pounds. A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, signed with the Edmonton Elks on January 16, 2025.
Collegiately, Nash III played three seasons at Memphis (2020-22) making three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in 18 games for the Tigers. He was named a two-time AAC All-Academic Team (2019, 2021). Then, Nash III transferred to North Texas in 2024 appearing in one game recording no stats for the Mean Green.
Nash III went to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep High School in Michigan where he helped the Eaglets go 10-4 winning the Michigan High School Athletic Association DIII state championship.
Toshiki Sato is five foot ten and weighs 191 pounds. The 31-year-old from Yokohama, Japan, signed with the Edmonton Elks on March 21, 2025.
Sato played four seasons for the IBM Big Blue (X-League) where he set the X-League record with a 58-yard field goal. He was named a two-time best kicker in Japan making 29 field goals in 18 games. In addition, he was a two-time Most Impressive Player (2017-18).
In 2019, Sato played two games for the Generals (TSL) making four field goals with a long of 54 yards. In 2020, he played for the Aviators of The Spring League. Then, Sato was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round (16th pick) in the 2021 CFL Global Draft.
He played one regular season game against the Edmonton Elks punting the ball nine times for 311 yards (34.6 AVG) with a long of 60 yards. The Calgary Stampeders signed Sato on June 3, 2023. He spent the season on the practice squad.
The Calgary Stampeders re-signed Sato on June 2, 2024, and spent the season on the practice squad. The Stampeders released him on October 27, 2024. Collegiately, Sato attended Waseda University.
