The Ottawa Redblacks made several changes to the coaching staff on Thursday by naming Josh Sacobie the new running backs coach, and Nate Taylor will take over the wide receivers coach after wide receivers coach Travis Moore is stepping away from the team due to personal reasons.
Josh Sacobie is from Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was recently with the Carleton Ravens as an offensive coordinator from 2012 until January of this year. In 2025, Carleton averaged 440.9 total yards per game, 27.1 points per game, 295.6 passing yards per game, and 144.4 rushing yards per game finishing 2-6 for the season.
“Josh joins our football club with a wealth of experience on the offensive side of the ball,” said Redblacks Head Coach Bob Dyce. “We are excited to add him to our coaching staff and to get to work on the 2025 season.”
As a player, Sacobie played four seasons at the University of Ottawa (2004-08). He would set the Gee-Gees record with 9,885 passing yards, and his 79 touchdowns is currently tied for second all-time in U Sports football history.
He was named a three-time OUA All-Star, OUA Most Valuable Player, and a two-time All-Canadian. In 2011, Sacobie won a silver medal representing Canada at the World Championships. After his playing career was over, Sacobie would work the coaching ranks at St. Patrick’s High School, the University of Ottawa, and CEGEP de L’Outaouais.
Nate Taylor is from Montreal, Quebec. He is entering his third season in Ottawa spending the last two seasons as the running backs coach. Taylor joined Ottawa as a coaching intern for training camp in 2022 before returning to the University of Ottawa.
Taylor was an offensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, and receivers coach for the Ottawa Gee-Gees. As a player, he played five seasons at Concordia playing defensive back for the Stingers. He spent time with the Montreal Alouettes in 2013 before returning to Concordia as a defensive backs coach. He was also on the coaching staff of the East-West Bowl.
“Nate has grown exponentially since he first joined us as a coaching intern in 2022. We are fortunate to have someone who can seamlessly shift to another positional group, and provide the same quality of coaching.” said Dyce. “We thank Travis for his contributions to the Redblacks over the years.”
Travis Moore is from Wilmington, North Carolina. Moore spent two seasons as the receivers coach. He was with the Redblacks from 2014 through 2017 as a receivers coach. The veteran coach joined the CFL in 2009 as a running backs coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He also spent time with the B.C. Lions and Edmonton Elks.
As a player, Moore played 11 seasons in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders winning two Grey Cup championships with Calgary in 1998 and 2001. He also played for the San Francisco Demons (XFL) in 2001 as a wide receiver helping the team reach the championship game against the Los Angeles Xtreme.
