Houston Roughnecks re-sign WR Cyril Grayson Jr., release two players

The Houston Roughnecks re-signed wide receiver Cyril Grayson Jr., and released wide receiver Reggie Roberson Jr. and Davin Bellamy on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Cyril Grayson Jr. is five foot nine and weighs 183 pounds. The 31-year-old from Kenner, Louisiana, was drafted by the Houston Roughnecks in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.

In 2024, Grayson Jr. made 18 catches for 194 yards, and one carry for three yards in 10 games. The Roughnecks re-signed him on October 7, 2024, and released him on March 6, 2025.

The Seattle Seahawks signed Grayson Jr. as an undrafted free agent on April 10, 2017. The Seahawks released him on September 8, 2017. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Grayson Jr. signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 19, 2019. He played three seasons in Tampa Bay making 11 catches for 215 yards, two touchdowns, and one carry for 14 yards in ten games.

The Buccaneers released him on September 1, 2022, and later signed with the Cleveland Browns on November 8, 2022. The Philadelphia Stars signed Grayson Jr. on May 30, 2023. In 2023, he made one catch for six yards in two games.

Collegiately, Grayson played four seasons at LSU (2013-16) in Track and Field. He is a four-time NCAA Champion and seven-time All-American between the indoor and outdoor seasons from 2013-16. In addition, he is a member of two NCAA Indoor Champion relay teams in 2014 and 2016 and back-to-back NCAA Outdoor Champion relay teams in 2015 and 2016.

He is also a member of five of the seven-fastest indoor 4×400-meter relay teams in the program’s history, including No. 2 at 3:04.04, No. 3 at 3:04.28, No. 5 at 3:04.46, No. 6 at 3:04.54 and No. 7 at 3:04.60, and ran on four of the 10-fastest outdoor mile relay teams in school history, including No. 2 at 3 minutes, 0.38 seconds; No. 3 at 3:00.48; No. 4 at 3:00.69 and No. 10 at 3:01.63.

Reggie Roberson Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 193 pounds. The 26-year-old from DeSoto, Texas, re-signed with the Houston Roughnecks on February 17, 2025. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025.

The Tennessee Titans signed Roberson Jr. as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. He made four catches for 47 yards in two preseason games, earning himself a spot on the practice squad.

After Tennessee, he was on the practice squad of the Chicago Bears. The Houston Roughnecks signed Roberson Jr. on April 23, 2024. He did not play for the Roughnecks in 2024. The Roughnecks released him on October 4, 2024.

Collegiately, Roberson Jr. played one season at West Virginia in 2017 making six catches for 30 yards and one touchdown in five games for the Mountaineers.

Then, Roberson Jr. transferred to Southern Methodist University (2018-21) making 168 catches for 2,704 yards, 23 touchdowns, five carries for 17 yards, nine kick returns for 301 yards, one touchdown, five punt returns for 21 yards, and three tackles (3 solos) in 34 games for the Mustangs. He attended the NFL Combine and the Reese’s Senior Bowl and was named Fourth Team All-ACC Team.

Davin Bellamy is six foot five and weighs 245 pounds. The 30-year-old from Chamblee, Georgia, re-signed with the D.C. Defenders on March 18, 2025. In 2025, he made one tackle (1 solo) in one game. The Defenders released him on April 28, 2025.

The Houston Roughnecks claimed Bellamy via waivers on April 28, 2025. Bellamy made two tackles (2 solos) in one game last week against the Memphis Showboats.

The Houston Texans signed Bellamy as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. He spent three seasons on Houston’s practice squad. Bellamy also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, and the Los Angeles Chargers. Bellamy made 14 tackles (11 solos, 4 assists), one interception, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 10 preseason games.

Then, Bellamy was drafted by the New Orleans Breakers in the second round (9th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 40 tackles (27 solos, 13 assists), seven tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in eight games helping the Breakers reach the South Divisional Semifinals against the Birmingham Stallions where he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist), one tackle for loss, and one sack. Bellamy was named to the All-USFL Team in 2022.

The D.C. Defenders drafted Bellamy in the first round (7th pick) in the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft. In 2023, he made 20 tackles (9 solos, 11 assists), seven tackles for loss, five sacks, and three forced fumbles in ten games, of which two were starts for D.C. Defenders in 2023 helping them reach the XFL Championship Game against the Arlington Renegades. Bellamy was named to the All-XFL Team after the season.

Bellamy re-signed with the D.C. Defenders on March 4, 2024. In 2024, he made 17 tackles (9 solos, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery in nine games.

Collegiately, Bellamy played four seasons at Georgia (2014-17) making 135 tackles (61 solos, 74 assists), 24 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and four forced fumbles in 42 games for the Bulldogs.
