The Birmingham Stallions (4-2) took on the San Antonio Brahmas (1-5) to close out Week 7 of the UFL season on Sunday afternoon from Protective Stadium. Case Cookus got the start at quarterback for Birmingham while San Antonio went with Kevin Hogan.

In the first quarter, Birmingham running back Ricky Person Jr. rushed up the middle to score a four-yard touchdown. They did not get the two-point conversion and led the Brahmas 6-0 with 2:10 left. Birmingham went into the second quarter leading 6-0.

In the second quarter, Birmingham quarterback Case Cookus completed a short pass to Amari Rodgers, who broke a couple of tackles on his way to scoring a 43-yard touchdown. Birmingham did not get the two-point conversion and it was now 12-0 Stallions with 21 seconds left.

San Antonio had a chance to get back into the ballgame but Kevin Hogan’s pass to Jontre Kirklin, who was all by himself, dropped the ball after it hit his hands. It was a nice throw by Hogan. San Antonio kicker Tristan Vizcaino made a 26-yard field goal and the Stallions led the Brahmas 12-3 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Birmingham kicker Harrison Mevis made a 49-yard field goal and a 50-yard field goal extending Birmingham’s lead to 18-3 with 3:27 left. The Stallions led the Brahmas 18-3 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Birmingham quarterback Case Cookus completed a short pass to Jace Sternberger for a five-yard touchdown. They converted the two-point conversion when Cookus threw a pass to Jordan Thomas. That was all the Stallions needed as they defeated the San Antonio Brahmas by the final score of 26-3. With the win, they remain tied for first place with the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference.

Birmingham had 313 yards of offense led by quarterback Case Cookus completing 16 of 23 passes (69.6%) for 166 yards, two touchdowns, and four carries for 16 yards. Backup quarterback Andrew Peasley completed 5 of 8 passes (62.5%) for 79 yards, and two carries for 10 yards.

Running back Ricky Person Jr. led the rushers with nine carries for 32 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Cade Johnson led the receivers making five catches for 61 yards, while Amari Rodgers made three catches for 55 yards, and one touchdown, and Jace Sternberger made two catches for 15 yards, and one touchdown.

Kicker Harrison Mevis made two field goals with a long of 50 yards. The defense made 40 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

San Antonio had 178 yards of offense led by quarterback Kevin Hogan completing 17 of 26 passes (65.4%) for 179 yards, one interception, and three carries for 8 yards. Running back Jashaun Corbin led the rushers with six carries for 14 yards.

Wide receiver Justin Smith made five catches for 108 yards, while Marquez Stevenson made four catches for 40 yards. Kicker Tristan Vizcaino made one of two field goals (50%) with a long of 26 yards. The defense made 67 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
