
The Toronto Argonauts released defensive lineman Ifenna Onyeka on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Ifenna Onyeka is six foot two and weighs 250 pounds. The 23-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the fifth round (45th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Onyeka made one tackle in two preseason games.
The Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024, and he returned to Carleton for his final collegiate season. Toronto re-signed Onyeka on December 5, 2024.
Collegiately, Onyeka played five seasons at Carleton University (2020-24) making 103 tackles (60 solos, 43 assists), 24.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup in 34 games for the Ravens.
In 2023, Onyeka made 46 tackles (21 solos, 25 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in eight games. In 2024, he made 26 tackles (19 solos, 7 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and one forced fumble in eight games. He won the John Ruddy Award in 2023 and was named Second Team All USports All-Canadian in 2024.
