
The Edmonton Elks signed offensive lineman Wyatt Hansen and defensive lineman Shakel Brown on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Wyatt Hansen is six foot five and weighs 312 pounds. The 23-year-old from Kent, Washington, played four seasons at Eastern Washington University (2021-24) playing guard and left tackle in 52 games for the Eagles. In 2024, Eastern Washington averaged 35.83 points per game, 229.3 rushing yards per game, 214.92 passing yards per game, 444.3 total yards per game, 58 touchdowns, and allowed 14 sacks finishing 4-8 for the season.
Hansen was named First Team All-Big Sky Conference, AP All-American Honorable Mention, Third Team FCS Football Central All-American, First Team All-Big Sky Conference by Phil Steele, and the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team.
Shakel Brown is six foot three and weighs 295 pounds. The 26-year-old from Miami, Florida, signed with the Houston Roughnecks on January 14, 2025. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025.
The Tennessee Titans signed Brown as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he injured his ankle and did not play in the preseason. The Titans released him on May 7, 2024. The San Francisco 49ers signed Brown on May 14, 2024.
In 2024, Brown made two tackles (2 assists), and two pass breakups in three preseason games. The 49ers released him on October 1, 2024, and he signed with the Miami Dolphins on October 30, 2024.
Collegiately, Brown started at Highlands Community College in 2018 but did not play a game for the Scotties. Next, he transferred to Itawamba Community College in 2019 making 11 tackles (7 solos, 4 assists), and 2.5 tackles for loss in eight games for the Indians.
Then, he transferred to Troy (2020-22) making 58 tackles (20 solos, 38 assists), eight tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 29 games for the Trojans.
