Jarret Doege is six foot two and weighs 208 pounds. The 27-year-old from Lubbock, Texas, completed 1 of 3 passes (33%) for six yards, and one carry for five yards in four games for the Elks in 2024.
The Edmonton Elks signed Doege on April 3, 2023. In 2023, he completed 42 of 65 passes (64.6%) for 587 yards, four touchdowns, four interceptions, and seven carries for five yards in 16 games.
Doege began his collegiate career at Bowling Green State University (2017-18) completing 362 of 577 passes (62.7%) for 4,041 yards, 39 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 81 carries for -262 yards, and four touchdowns in 19 games for the Falcons. In 2018, he led the MAC in passing touchdowns (27) and passing yards (2,660).
Next, Doege transferred to West Virginia (2019-21) completing 590 of 911 passes (65%) for 6,453 yards, 40 touchdowns, 19 interceptions, 117 carries for -304 yards, and three touchdowns in 27 games for the Mountaineers.
In 2020, Doege completed 239 of 374 passes (64%) for 2,587 yards, 14 touchdowns, four interceptions, 40 carries for -101 yards, and two touchdowns in ten games. He was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, All-Big 12 Second Team, and All-Big 12 Fourth Team in 2020.
Then, he transferred to Troy in 2022 completing 44 of 64 passes (69%) for 575 yards, five touchdowns, three touchdowns, and 14 carries for -39 yards in seven games for the Trojans.
Jerminic Smith is six foot one and weighs 184 pounds. The 28-year-old from Garland, Texas, re-signed with the Edmonton Elks on June 3, 2024. In 2024, Smith made five catches for 110 yards, and one carry for -2 yards in three games.
The Ottawa Redblacks signed Smith on August 14, 2019. He played three games making eight catches for 87 yards. In 2022, Smith played for the Frisco Fighters (IFL) making 59 catches for 839 yards, 19 touchdowns, eight carries for 24 yards, and three kick returns for 39 yards in 13 games.
In 2023, Smith made 80 catches for 923 yards, 14 touchdowns, three carries for seven yards, one touchdown, and eight kickoffs for 107 yards in 17 games for the Frisco Fighters (IFL).
The Edmonton Elks signed Smith on December 6, 2023. Smith played two preseason games making seven catches for 38 yards before he was released on June 1, 2024.
Collegiately, Smith played two seasons at Iowa (2015-16) with 29 catches for 455 yards, two touchdowns, and three carries for 63 yards in 27 games for the Hawkeyes. Then, he transferred to Southwest Baptist University in 2017 with 47 catches for 580 yards, five touchdowns, 11 carries for 23 yards, one touchdown, and four punt returns for 45 yards in ten games for the Bearcats.
Daniel Joseph is six foot two and weighs 261 pounds. The 28-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, signed with the Edmonton Elks on August 19, 2024. In 2024, he made five tackles, and one sack in seven games.
Daniel Joseph signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2022 with five tackles (3 solo, 2 assists) and one sack in three preseason games. He signed with the Birmingham Stallions on August 24, 2023, but the USFL and XFL merged into the UFL. He was also drafted by the B.C. Lions in the first round (4th pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft.
The Seattle Sea Dragons drafted Joseph in the seventh round (50th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft. In 2023, Joseph made eight tackles (4 solo, 4 assists), two tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.
Then Joseph signed with the B.C. Lions on January 17, 2024. Joseph appeared in one preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders in 2024 but recorded no stats. The B.C. Lions released Joseph on May 28, 2024.
The Toronto Argonauts signed Joseph on July 8, 2024. He played two games for the Argos in 2024 making one tackle on special teams. The Argonauts released him on July 30, 2024.
Collegiately, Joseph played three seasons at Penn State (2017-19) with 29 tackles (12 solo, 17 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 32 games for the Nittany Lions.
Then, he transferred to N.C. State (2020-21) with 83 tackles (33 solo, 50 assists), 19 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 23 games for the Wolfpack.
Kai Gray is six foot and weighs 215 pounds. The 27-year-old from Newark, New Jersey, made 58 tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Elks in 2024.
The Edmonton Elks signed Gray on January 10, 2023. In 2023, he made 54 tackles, two tackles on special teams, two interceptions, and one touchdown in 18 games.
Collegiately, Gray played two seasons at Rutgers University (2016-17) making 73 tackles (42 solos, 31 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions for five yards, eight pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 20 games for the Scarlet Knights.
Next, Gray transferred to Sam Houston State in 2019 making 31 tackles (24 solos, 7 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Bearkats.
Then, Gray transferred to Kansas at NAIA Tabor College in 2021 but did not play a game for the Blue Jays. Gray concluded his collegiate career in 2022 by transferring to Lincoln University making 82 tackles (50 solos, 32 assists), four tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, seven pass breakups, and one blocked kick in eight games.
Jacob Taylor is six foot one and weighs 215 pounds. The 23-year-old from Beaumont, Alberta, made three tackles and two tackles on special teams in five games for the Elks in 2024.
The Edmonton Elks drafted Taylor in the second round (18th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2023, he made one tackle and nine tackles on special teams in 17 games.
Collegiately, Taylor played three seasons at the University of Alberta (2019, 2021-22) making 77 tackles (60 solos, 17 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, seven pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries in 21 games for the Golden Bears.
