
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (22-8) and the Rochester American (6-23) played game three on Thursday morning from Innovative Field. Kyle Tyler (2-2, 3.42 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Andry Lara (0-2, 9.00 ERA) of Rochester.
Lehigh Valley struck first at the top of the first inning with an RBI single from third baseman Otto Kemp, an RBI double by Christian Arroyo, and an RBI single from Garrett Stubbs putting Lehigh Valley up 3-0.
Otto Kemp finished the day going 2 for 5 with two singles, and two RBIs, and second baseman Christian Arroyo went 2 for 4 with a single, double, and two RBIs.
Moving ahead to the top of the fifth inning, Lehigh Valley was leading Rochester 4-1 when center fielder Brandon Marsh hit Chase Solesky’s four-seam fastball for a solo home run at 366 feet to left-center field extending their lead to 5-1.
Lehigh Valley first baseman Buddy Kennedy brought home another run at the top of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field for a 6-1 lead. Brandon Marsh would later add two more RBIs at the top of the ninth inning and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs defeated the Rochester Red Wings by the final score of 8-1. Lehigh Valley have now won four straight games. Marsh finished the game going 2 for 5 with a single, a home run, and three RBIs.
Lehigh Valley starter Kyle Tyler earned his third win of the season pitching five innings, allowing seven hits, one run, one walk, and three strikeouts throwing 84 pitches, of which 51 were strikes. The loss went to Rochester starter Andry Lara.
