The Ottawa Redblacks selected kicker/punter Callum Eddings in the first round (5th pick), and punter James Burnip in the second round (14th pick) of the 2025 CFL Global Draft on Tuesday.
Callum Eddings is five foot eleven and weighs 150 pounds. The 23-year-old from Ivanhoe East, Victoria, Australia, transferred to Stephen F. Austin in 2024 punting the ball 44 times for 2,019 yards (45.9 AVG), with a long of 67 yards, five touchbacks, 12 fair catches, 13 from inside the 20-yard line, 17 from 50-plus yards, one carry for -9 yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in 10 games for the Lumberjacks.
Collegiately, Eddings played at McNeese State University (2021-23) punting the ball 156 times for 6,014 yards (38.6 AVG), with a long of 61 yards, six touchbacks, 67 fair catches, 50 from inside the 20-yard line, nine from 50-plus yards, one tackle (1 solo), and one tackle for loss in 31 games for the Cowboys. He was on the SLC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in 2021.
James Burnip is six foot six and weighs 236 pounds. A native of Mount Macedon, Victoria Australia, Burnip signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on April 26, 2025.
Collegiately, Burnip played four seasons at Alabama (2021-24) punting the ball 201 times for 8,808 yards (43.8 AVG), with a long of 67 yards, 13 touchbacks, 85 fair catches, 70 from inside the 20-yard line, 50 from 50-plus yards, and one kickoff for 48 yards in 55 games for the Crimson Tide.
In 2024, he punted the ball 52 times for 2,359 yards (45.4 AVG), with a long of 64 yards, four touchbacks, 25 fair catches, 19 from inside the 20-yard line, 20 from 50-plus yards, and one kickoff for 48 yards in 13 games.
