Cade Fergus’s three-run home run leads Lehigh Valley to a comeback win in Rochester

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (21-8) and the Rochester American (6-22) played game two of a six-game series on Wednesday night from Innovative Field. Nabil Crismatt (3-1, 2.67 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Seth Shuman (0-2, 5.03 ERA) of Rochester.

Lehigh Valley did not register a run until the top of the ninth inning down 2-0. Shortstop Rodolfo Castro hit an RBI single to center field scoring Erick Brito and Lehigh Valley trailed Rochester 2-1. Castro went 1 for 4 with a single and one RBI.

Lehigh Valley left fielder Cade Fergus hit Jack Sinclair’s sweeper for a three-run home run at 438 feet to left-center field giving Lehigh Valley a 4-2 lead. It was Fergus’s fourth home run of the season. He finished the game 1 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.

Lehigh Valley relief pitcher Joel Kuhnel pitched one inning with two strikeouts throwing 10 pitches, of which 8 were strikes to end the game and earn his first save of the season. The IronPigs defeated the Red Wings by the final score of 4-2.

Lehigh Valley starter Nabil Crismatt pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, one walk, and five strikeouts throwing 87 pitches, of which 52 were strikes in a no-decision. The win went to Lehigh Valley relief pitcher Max Lazar pitching one inning allowing one walk and one strikeout throwing 21 pitches, of which 14 were strikes.
