Lehigh Valley cools off as their eight-game winning comes to an end

After rain postponed their game on Friday night. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (10-3) took on the Syracuse Mets (4-8) on Saturday night from Coca-Cola Park. Mick Abel (1-1, 3.27 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Brandon Sproat (0-1, 7.50 ERA) of Syracuse.

Lehigh Valley left fielder Justin Crawford went 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, and one RBI. Lehigh Valley designated hitter Gabriel Rincones Jr. went 1 for 4 with a home run (3), and one RBI. His home run came in the bottom of the sixth inning hitting Sean Reid-Foley’s slider 377 feet to right field. That was all the runs the IronPigs scored and their eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-2 loss.

Lehigh Valley starter Mick Abel lost his second game of the season pitching five innings, allowing five hits, four runs, three earned runs, four walks, and seven strikeouts pitching 94 pitches, of which 58 were strikes. The win went to Syracuse relief pitcher Génesis Cabrera.

Scoring for Syracuse was third baseman Luke Ritter at the Top of the fourth inning, and first baseman Joey Meneses hit a bases-clearing double at the top of the fifth inning for a 4-0 lead. Niko Goodrum and Donovan Walton both hit home runs that gave the Mets six runs.
