The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and defensive tackle Jake Thomas agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Friday.

Jake Thomas is six foot two and weighs 274 pounds. The 33-year-old from Douglas, New Brunswick, made 17 tackles and five sacks in 18 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023. The Blue Bombers drafted Thomas in the fourth round (29th pick) in the 2012 CFL Draft.

Thomas has helped the Blue Bombers win two Grey Cup championships in 2019 and 2021. In ten seasons in Winnipeg, Thomas has 165 tackles, four tackles on special teams, 31 sacks, one interception, and four forced fumbles in 186 games.

Collegiately, Thomas played four seasons at Acadia University (2008-11) with 115.5 tackles, 18 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 32 games for the Axemen.
