The Birmingham Stallions released tight end Chris Pierce Jr. on Tuesday to sign an NFL contract with the Carolina Panthers and will be placed on the practice squad. On Tuesday, Pierce worked out for the Carolina Panthers.
Chris Pierce Jr. is six foot four and weighs 235 pounds. The 25-year-old from Smithfield, Virginia, was on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2023 before being released. The Cardinals signed Pierce Jr. as an undrafted free agent in 2022.
He played one preseason game in 2022 with one catch for 19 yards against the Baltimore Ravens and was later placed on the practice squad. The Stallions signed Pierce Jr. as a free agent on September 6, 2023.
Collegiately, Pierce Jr. played five seasons at Vanderbilt University (2017-21) with 109 catches for 1,398 yards and nine touchdowns in 55 games for the Commodores. In his final season, Pierce Jr. made 57 catches for 654 yards and two touchdowns.
