The BC Lions and defensive back Garry Peters agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday. The 31-year-old from Conyers, Georgia, made 47 tackles and five interceptions in 18 games for the Lions in 2022.

This will be Peters’s fifth season in British Columbia. The Lions signed him as a free agent in 2018. Peters has played 68 games in BC with 235 tackles, one sack, eleven interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

Before British Columbia, Peters spent two seasons (2016-17) for the Edmonton Eskimos (now the Elks) with 67 tackles in 19 games.

Collegiately, Peters played four seasons (2011-14) at Clemson with 106 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 45 games for the Tigers. In 2012, the Tigers won the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl over LSU and earned First-Team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2014.
