Montreal Alouettes and defensive back Nafees Lyons agree to a contract extension

The Montreal Alouettes and defensive back Nafees Lyons agreed to a one-year contract extension on Monday through the 2023 season. The 26-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, had 28 tackles, one interception, and one touchdown in six games for Montreal in the 2022 season.

The Alouettes acquired Lyons in a trade from the Edmonton Elks. Lyons had 25 tackles, one forced fumble, one sack, and one interception in eight games for Edmonton before being traded to Montreal. In two seasons, Lyon has 80 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and four interceptions in 19 games.

Lyon played four seasons at Charlotte (2016, 2018-20) with 137 tackles, two interceptions, 13 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 40 games.
