The Edmonton Elks announced on Monday signed running back Lyndemian Brooks and defensive tackle Ronald Ollie for the 2023 season.
Lyndemian Brooks, a 25-year-old from Austin, Texas, played nine games at Prairie View A&M University in 2021 with 90 carries for 467 yards, five touchdowns, and 28 catches for 238 yards. Before joining the Panthers, Brooks played five seasons at Grambling State (2016-2020) with 168 carries for 867 yards, six touchdowns, 48 catches for 551 yards, and four touchdowns in 41 games.
Ronald Ollie, a 26-year-old from Shubuta, Mississippi, attended the Toronto Argonauts training camp in 2021 and attended the Oakland Raiders training camp in 2019.
Collegiately, Ollie played two seasons at East Mississippi Community College (2014-15) where he was the star of Netflix’s “Last Chance U” show. In 2015, he was named 2015 MACJC All-State Second Team Defense after making 30 tackles, one interception, three fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in nine games.
Then, Ollie transferred to Nicholls State (2016, 2018) with 74 tackles, seven sacks, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 22 games. He was an All-Southland Honorable Mention in 2018.
