Opinion: AEW sends Huber off in a big way on Dynamite

On Wednesday, All Elite Wrestling Dynamite celebrated the life and career of Jon Huber. Chris Jericho did the commentary for the entire show. The card featured every member of The Dark Order from different matches. The show started with the AEW roster on stage for the ten-bell salute, followed by the first eulogy from Jon Moxley. Many other AEW wrestlers gave eulogies throughout the show.

All members of The Dark Order won their matches. In one of the matches, Jon Silver wore a mini-Brodie Lee outfit and used his Discuss Clothesline on Ortiz to win. During that match, Huber’s former partner Erik Redbeard came to the aid of The Dark Order to take out Wardlow, and Huber’s son Brodie hit MJF with a kendo stick. After the match, Silver broke down. Everyone surrounded him, including Redbeard, who came back out with a sign that said, “Goodbye for now my brother. See you down the road.”

After the main event concluded with Huber’s son picking his favorite wrestlers Preston Vance, Orange Cassidy, and Cody Rhodes, defeating Team Taz’s Brain Cage, Ricky Starks, and Will Hobbs, the show closed with Cody Rhodes giving a speech about Huber.

Then, Huber’s wife Amanda and their son Brodie, along with Preston Vance, and Tony Khan, came out to the ring. Huber’s son placed his dad’s boots in the middle of the ring, and Tony Khan announced that Brodie Jr. is the TNT champion for life. Finally, they played a tribute video of Huber, showing photos and videos highlighting his life from the Indies to WWE and AEW. It was a wonderful tribute.

During the Dynamite post-show, Tony Schiavone clarified that the TNT championship has not been retired, but the belt design has and that current champion Darby Allin will get a new TNT championship. More wrestlers and crew shared more stories about Huber during the post-show, and more wrestlers took to social media to share their stories.

The show was fantastic from top to bottom. To put this show together in a matter of days was terrific, and hats off to everyone involved. To see wrestlers come together from all companies to share their stories on Huber is wonderful. This show is, without a doubt, the best show of 2020.
